Paducah Tilghman High School seniors Levi Brown, Blain Oliver, and Maggie Rowton have earned the National Rural and Small Town Award from the College Board’s National Recognition Program.
This national recognition is awarded to students who have a GPA of 3.3 or higher and scored in the top 10 percent on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams, and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, identify as first-generation (new in 2024), and/or attend school in a rural area or small town. Paducah is considered a rural area or small town by the College Board.
This program helps students from underrepresented backgrounds stand out to colleges during the admissions process and creates a way for colleges and scholarship programs to connect directly with those underrepresented students. Eligible students receive an invitation by email to apply during their sophomore or junior year and are awarded at the beginning of the next school year. Students will receive their awards in time to include them on their college and scholarship applications.
