Tilghman students receive DAR awards

Four Paducah Tilghman High School students have been honored by the Paducah chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for outstanding character and commitment to high ideals. The students were nominated by Paducah Tilghman High School. Paducah Chapter DAR representative Cheryl Bendick presented the awards.

Senior Kate LeBuhn was awarded the DAR’s highest student honor, the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award. The Good Citizens Award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Recipients are selected by their schools because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

LeBuhn is the daughter of Polly and Carl LeBuhn.

Junior Riley Darnell, sophomore Sa’dea Shackelford, and freshman Whitson McNeill were awarded Youth Citizenship Medals for exemplifying the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. The DAR Youth Citizenship Medal was established to foster a greater appreciation of the qualities of American citizenship among school-aged children. Schools and service organizations may nominate one student per grade in grades 5-11.
