The Board of Education welcomes public participation. Board procedure provides ample time at each Board meeting for public participation. Board procedure requires the following: The Board will schedule a maximum of 45 minutes of public participation, except in unusual circumstances. Individual participants will be limited to 2 minutes each during the 45-minute public participation period. Any exception or exemption to this Board procedure will be granted entirely at the discretion of the Board.
The Board will listen carefully to comments and suggestions presented during public participation. The Board will generally not respond to public questions and comments during the Board meeting; however, the Board, or the superintendent at the direction of the Board, will respond later in those instances where a response is appropriate.
The Board of Education will not hear complaints against pupils or personnel unless such complaints have been heard by the superintendent through proper channels. After remedies have been exhausted at lower levels, such complaints shall only be heard in executive session and in accordance with Kentucky statutes.
