Paducah Public Schools District Strategies Consultant Amy Bakehouse and District Instructional Specialist Allene Houston Jones have been selected by KASA, the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, to the 2025 cohort of Kentucky Women in Education Leadership (KWEL).
This prestigious group of 31 accomplished school leaders, selected through a rigorous application process, represents some of the most accomplished women in education across the state. Each member brings a wealth of experience, innovative leadership, and a dedication to providing Kentucky’s children with a world-class education.
The KWEL initiative aims to foster a community of professional female education leaders, focusing on promoting knowledge, competence, equity, and self-confidence through personal growth, mentorship, and career advancement support. By creating a space for collaboration and empowerment, KWEL is committed to advancing female leadership in education and increasing the number of women in executive-level roles.
“The induction of these women is not just a celebration of their individual achievements, but a recognition of their potential to transform education in Kentucky,” said Dr. Rhonda Caldwell, KASA Chief Executive Officer. “KWEL serves as a powerful platform for female leaders to connect, support one another, and drive positive change in our schools and communities.”
The program offers its members ongoing networking opportunities, access to high-quality professional development, and mentorship from seasoned executive leaders in public education. These experiences aim to build confidence and prepare women to take on greater leadership responsibilities within their schools and districts.
Dr. Kathy Fields, KASA Director of Leadership Development, added, “This cohort represents the future of education leadership in our state. Each of these women brings unique skills and perspectives that will not only benefit their students but will also strengthen our collective leadership as we face new challenges in education.”
The new cohort will be formally inducted into the program during the annual KWEL Leadership Forum, to be held January 22-23, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville. This event will bring together members of the cohort, along with some of Kentucky's most influential female leaders in education, for two days of learning, inspiration, and collaboration.
KASA, The School Leaders Association, is the largest school administrator group in Kentucky, representing more than 3,400 education leaders across the commonwealth. Formed in 1969, KASA connects education leaders to policymakers, legislators, and other interest groups, and provides numerous benefits and services to Kentucky’s school administrators.
