Parents and Guardians,
As we begin our fall sports seasons, please be reminded that all students from kindergarten through 8th grade, regardless of school district, must be accompanied by an adult at all PPS school and athletic events. Students from kindergarten through 8th grade will not be admitted to games without an adult in attendance.

With the heat outside we are extra thankful for the brand-new indoor practice facility at Paducah Head Start. It is an indoor play space for our Head Start students during the school day, and an indoor practice facility for our high school students after school!

Paducah Middle House Leaders, Paducah Middle faculty members Emily Goehman and Lynnette Harris, Student Board member KJ Wade, and Director of Pupil Personnel Troy Brock attended the August 27 meeting of the Paducah City Commission to participate with Mayor George Bray in proclaiming September as Attendance Awareness Month. The proclamation reads:
Whereas, our nation is experiencing a school absenteeism crisis, making good attendance more essential than ever to student achievement and education; and
Whereas, students and families are more likely to show up with positive conditions for learning at school , including a sense of connection, support, academic challenges, and motivation; and
Whereas taking daily attendance in a consistent manner is essential to identifying when students miss too much school and reaching out as soon as possible to students and their families with needed support and resources; and
Whereas reducing chronic absence requires commitment to a plan that begins with prevention, early intervention, and identifying and addressing barriers to being in school; and
Whereas improving attendance and engagement takes schools, families, elected leaders and other community partners working together to affirm the importance of education and attendance.
Now therefore I, George P. Bray, Mayor of Paducah, Kentucky, hereby proclaim the month of September 2024 as Attendance Awareness Month.
